- Manipulation and payload (10%), useful hands, reach and load capacity matter more than showreel motion.
- Uptime and reliability (10%), battery strategy, docking, duty cycle and field hours count.
- Safety and serviceability (10%), human-safe operation, maintainability and support count.
- Transparent specifications and pricing (5%), published evidence earns credit; missing data stays missing.
Robots working in real factories, warehouses, and hospitals rank above robots that only exist in demo videos. We verify specs against manufacturer pages and primary sources, label estimates as estimates, and attribute manufacturer claims rather than repeating them as fact. AI Platforms Powering Humanoid Robots

NVIDIA Isaac GR00T
NVIDIA's Isaac GR00T N1, released at GTC in March 2025, was the first open foundation model for humanoid robots; the current release is GR00T 1.7 (GTC, March 2026, early access), and N1.6 shipped at CES 2026 with Cosmos Reason integration. Isaac Lab's GPU-parallel simulation compresses months of robot training into hours. Current adopters include Agility Robotics, Boston Dynamics, NEURA, Mentee and 1X, with N1.6 validated on the Unitree G1 and AgiBot Genie-1.
Google DeepMind Gemini Robotics
At CES 2026, Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics announced a partnership to put Gemini Robotics foundation models on the electric Atlas (and Spot), with testing planned at Hyundai plants. Apptronik's Apollo also runs Gemini Robotics through a separate partnership, and the two companies opened a shared 90,000 sq ft training facility, "Robot Park," in June 2026.
In-House Models: Helix and the Vertical Stack
Figure AI ended its OpenAI collaboration in February 2025 and built Helix, an in-house vision-language-action model that now runs Figure 03, a bet that owning the whole stack beats renting a brain. Tesla takes the same vertical approach with FSD-derived networks and its AI5 chip, XPENG with its Turing chips and VLA/VLT models, and Unitree open-sourced its UnifoLM-VLA-0 research model in January 2026. Hardware is commoditizing faster than intelligence; the AI layer is where the next rankings will be won.

The short version, if you skip the rest: Digit is the strongest evidence-backed industrial buy; Atlas leads on hardware and Figure 03 on AI-first manufacturing. Unitree G1 is the best-value entry hardware at $13,500, but researchers need the quote-only G1 EDU for secondary development. A home robot in 2026 means pre-ordering a 1X NEO. And if you want a full-size humanoid shipping today for less than a car, compare the Unitree H2 against the Kepler K2. The other entries earn their places for narrower reasons, including speed, price, open source and weatherproofing. Each verdict line says which.
1. Agility Robotics Digit — Best Proven Commercial Humanoid

Manufacturer: Agility Robotics (Corvallis, OR) | ~$640M raised | Going public via SPAC at ~$2.5B (announced July 5, 2026)
Digit has the most real commercial mileage of any humanoid: 65,000+ operating hours across nine facilities, per the company's SEC filing. It passed 100,000 totes moved at GXO's Flowery Branch site in November 2025 (a first-of-its-kind disclosed milestone), and its customer list (Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Mercado Libre) reads like a logistics who's-who. Amazon is an investor and has piloted Digit, but Digit is not deployed across Amazon fulfillment centers.
The 2026 story is scale: Agility announced on July 5 it is going public via the Churchill Capital Corp XI SPAC at roughly $2.5 billion, and reports $300M+ in contracted orders for Digit v5, its cooperatively safe commercial model with swappable hands and a 50 lb lift designed to work fence-free alongside people. The RoboFab factory in Salem, Oregon can scale past 10,000 units a year.

Production Atlas entered manufacturing in January 2026. Boston Dynamics says all 2026 deployments are committed to Hyundai's Robotics Metaplant Application Center and Google DeepMind, with additional customers planned for 2027. It has not announced open ordering. Official specifications are 1.9 m, 90 kg, 56 degrees of freedom, a 50 kg instantaneous payload and a 30 kg sustained payload.
At CES 2026, Atlas won CNET's Best of CES "Best Robot" award and Boston Dynamics announced a partnership with Google DeepMind to run Gemini Robotics models on it. Hyundai says production parts-sequencing at HMGMA begins in 2028. Boston Dynamics has not published a price or announced open ordering.

Figure AI's third-generation humanoid, announced October 9, 2025, was purpose-built around Helix, the company's in-house vision-language-action AI (Figure ended its OpenAI collaboration in February 2025 to build Helix). Each hand carries an embedded palm camera, the 2.3 kWh battery runs about 5 hours at peak and recharges wirelessly at 2 kW through coils in the feet, and the whole robot is 9% lighter than Figure 02.
The deployment record matters more than the spec sheet. Figure 02 completed an 11-month pilot at BMW Spartanburg (January–November 2025), supporting production of 30,000+ X3s with about 90,000 parts loaded at 99% accuracy, and was retired in November 2025. Figure 03 completed its first BMW demonstration in June 2026 for parts-sequencing work. That demo is not the same as Figure 02's 11-month production record. Figure signed its first retail-logistics customer, Catalyst Brands (JCPenney, Aéropostale), in May. The BotQ factory is tooled for up to 12,000 units a year, targeting 100,000 robots over four years. In March 2026, Figure 03 joined Melania Trump's White House AI education summit, which CEO Brett Adcock called the first humanoid robot in the White House. Walker S2, launched July 2025, is the industrial humanoid you can actually order in volume. Its signature trick is a world-first: fully autonomous hot-swap batteries. The robot changes its own pack in about three minutes, enabling round-the-clock shifts. Mass production and deliveries began in November 2025 with orders above ¥800 million, including a single ¥250M purchase, and UBTECH plans capacity of 5,000 units a year in 2026.
It stands on the deployment record of its predecessor Walker S1 (172 cm, ~76 kg), which worked quality inspection at Audi's FAW plant in Changchun (the first humanoid in Audi's global production system), completed logistics validation at Foxconn's Longhua campus, and ran the world's first multi-humanoid collaborative swarm at a Zeekr factory in March 2025. NEO is the first credible consumer humanoid, and 2026 is its make-or-break year. To be precise about status: NEO is still pre-order only. The NEO Factory in Hayward, CA opened April 30, 2026 with first units going to R&D and internal home testing; CEO Bernt Børnich says customer shipments start before the end of 2026. 1X says the first 10,000 units of planned capacity were booked in five days.
The design is genuinely home-first: 30 kg, tendon-driven soft body, 4-hour battery, and a privacy model built around teleoperation: human operators assist through "Expert Mode" with people-blurring, no-go zones, and owner approval, which is how NEO learns. On July 9, 1X announced a 25-DOF hand revision. Its order page still lists 22 DOF per hand, so we treat 25 DOF as an announced revision until 1X reconciles the shipping configuration. At $20,000 (or $499/month with a $200 refundable deposit), it's the cheapest path to a full-size home humanoid. The purchase still rests on promised improvements in autonomy.

By analyst count, nobody shipped more humanoids in 2025 than AgiBot: Omdia credits it with 5,168 units and a 39% global share (Unitree self-reports 5,500+ and disputes the ranking, read shipment claims with both numbers in mind). The scale is accelerating: AgiBot reported its 10,000th robot on March 30, 2026, three months after reporting 5,000 in December 2025. An A2 also set a Guinness World Record in January 2026 for the longest humanoid walk: 106 km from Suzhou to Shanghai.
The A2 itself is a service-first humanoid (169 cm, 69 kg, 40+ degrees of freedom, a swappable 700 Wh battery good for about two hours) that threads needles in demos and handles reception, guidance, and interaction work. The A2 Ultra variant was the first humanoid certified concurrently for China (CR), the EU (CE), and the US (FCC) in May 2025, and the family spans wheeled (A2-W) and industrial variants.
