Vendor specifications and production figures are labelled as company claims; a demonstration is not described as a shipment or an independently proven deployment.
July 28: The FCC blocks new foreign-made humanoids and quadrupeds
The FCC updated its Covered List on July 28 to add advanced robotic devices, which it defines as mobile robots such as humanoids and quadrupeds, produced in foreign countries. Covered equipment cannot receive new FCC equipment authorization, and that authorization is a precondition for importing, marketing or selling most electronics in the United States.
The restriction reaches new models only. Devices already purchased, models authorized before July 28 and federal government purchase and use are unaffected, and producers can apply to the Department of War for a Conditional Approval. This is the first regulatory change that alters which humanoids can legally enter the US market rather than what they can do. Unitree, the most exposed maker, launched its Shanghai STAR Market IPO on July 31; that is a capital event and does not change its catalogue, prices or order routes.
July 30: Gemini Robotics 2 extends whole-body control to humanoids
Google DeepMind released Gemini Robotics 2 alongside Gemini Robotics ER 2 for embodied reasoning and Gemini Robotics On-Device 2 for local execution. It is the first model in the family to run legs, torso, arms and hands under a single policy rather than the upper body alone. DeepMind demonstrated it on Apptronik's Apollo 2 and names Franka Duo, Boston Dynamics and Agile Robots among supported platforms.
The published success rates are the useful part: 45.7 to 76.3 percent on general whole-body manipulation and 36 to 92 percent on multi-finger tasks, with unscrewing a light bulb at 92 percent and screwing one back in at 36 percent. This is a capability release with measured numbers attached, not a shipped product. No robot changed price, order status or delivery timing because of it.
July 16: SoftBank exercises its put option, Hyundai moves to own all of Boston Dynamics
Hyundai's July 16 statement confirms SoftBank has exercised the put option from the 2021 acquisition and that Hyundai-side shareholders are pursuing SoftBank's entire remaining stake, roughly 10 percent of the company. Bloomberg and Reuters report a price of about $325 million; Hyundai says final terms, including price, are still going through internal approvals.
For buyers nothing changes: Atlas still has no public price or order page. Full ownership removes the IPO deadline the put option enforced and clarifies who funds the 2026 Atlas deployment commitments.
July 18: AgiBot and Unitree debut new robots at WAIC 2026, none checkout-ready
AgiBot debuted the A3 Ultra and three other products at WAIC 2026 in Shanghai, while Unitree showed the GD01, a 2.7 meter transformable robot it says is mass-produced and can carry a person. All performance figures are company claims.
No WAIC debut came with a public price or order page. Treat the specs as vendor numbers until third parties test production units.
July 10: Tesla clears the Fremont line for Optimus, production not started
Tesla posted a timelapse showing the Fremont Model S and X line torn down in 46 days to make room for the first Optimus production line. Elon Musk, who walked the site on July 1, said production had not begun and that initial output will be extremely slow, citing roughly 10,000 unique parts. Tesla's stated target of first output in late July to August 2026 is a company claim; the July 22 Q2 earnings call is the next dated checkpoint.
For buyers nothing changed: Optimus still has no price, no order page and no delivery commitment. The teardown only confirms the factory conversion moved from claim to visible fact.
July 9: 1X updates NEO's hands while order terms remain live
1X announced a new NEO hand with 25 degrees of freedom including the wrist, tactile sensing, force-controlled backdrivable tendons and IP68 protection. Those are manufacturer-published specifications, not an independent dexterity benchmark.
The more important buyer signal is the live NEO order page: $20,000 for ownership or $499 per month, a $200 refundable deposit, and US deliveries stated to start in 2026. 1X also says remote Experts may supervise tasks the robot does not yet know. The terms are concrete, but they do not prove delivery volume, unsupervised autonomy or ordinary household reliability.
June 30: Figure 03 reaches a named BMW workflow
Figure reported that Figure 03 arrived at BMW Plant Spartanburg for a sequencing workflow involving part handling and cart movement in Hall 52. The company calls this a demonstration. That is stronger evidence than an unplaced demo video because the customer, site and task are named, but it is not the same as audited fleet performance.
In an April production update, Figure said BotQ had produced more than 350 Figure 03 robots and demonstrated a one-robot-per-hour cycle time. Both numbers are company-reported. They matter as manufacturing signals, but buyers still need task success, interventions, uptime and customer acceptance.
June 1: Unitree lists H2 Plus at $100,000, but it is not checkout-ready
Unitree introduced H2 Plus. Unitree publishes about three hours of battery life, roughly 7 kg rated arm payload, 15 kg peak arm payload and optional dexterous hands. The company also warns that the humanoid industry remains early and that some functions are still under development.
The official Unitree store lists H2 Plus at $100,000, but the product is marked unavailable and buyers are directed to contact Unitree. That makes $100,000 a current catalog price, not proof of an in-stock, one-click retail transaction.
April 22: Tesla installs Optimus production lines, with no public orders
Tesla's Q1 2026 shareholder update said first-generation Optimus production lines were being installed in anticipation of volume production. Tesla did not publish a retail price, order page, deposit or customer delivery date. This is evidence of production preparation, not consumer availability.
January 5: Atlas enters production with 2026 deployments committed
Boston Dynamics unveiled the product version of Atlas and said manufacturing would begin immediately. It also said every 2026 deployment was committed to Hyundai and Google DeepMind, with additional customers planned for early 2027. Atlas has announced production and committed 2026 deployments, but no public price or open allocation.
What is actually available in 2026?
Availability is not one binary label. A deposit page, a sales-assisted catalog listing, a named factory demonstration and a committed enterprise allocation are different commercial states.

How to read a humanoid robot announcement
The same word can hide very different evidence. RoboZaps uses this ladder when deciding how much weight to give an update:
- Demonstration: a robot completes a selected task under conditions controlled by the developer.
- Named pilot or workflow: the customer, site and task are identified, but the operating duration or success rate may still be missing.
- Production claim: the vendor reports a factory, unit count or cycle time. This says something about manufacturing, not necessarily customer use.
- Repeat deployment: a customer uses the robot over time and reports cycles, throughput, uptime or incidents.
- Comparable benchmark: methods and results allow different systems to be assessed on the same task. This remains uncommon for commercial humanoids.
The NIST Humanoid Robot Baseline Performance Benchmark is a useful sign of where neutral testing may go. NIST describes proposed locomotion and manipulation tasks with quantifiable metrics and is still seeking participation. It is not yet a certification scheme or a published league table.

Funding rounds, IPO plans and long-range production targets can show capital and intent. They do not prove that robots have shipped, that customers are using them, or that the economics work.
