Foundation Chooses AMD for Phantom MK-2—and Reveals a $100K-a-Year Industrial Lease

Foundation says its announced Phantom MK-2 will use AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100—and disclosed an approximately $100,000-a-year industrial lease for Phantom MK-1.

Foundation Future Industries says it has selected AMD’s Ryzen AI Embedded X100 platform for Phantom MK-2, an announced successor to its Phantom humanoid. The July 23 disclosure also put a useful commercial number on the current robot: Foundation told Reuters that industrial units are leased for approximately USD 100,000 per robot per year.

That annual figure is a lease term, not a purchase price. RoboZaps has updated the Phantom MK-1 record accordingly and keeps the base robot’s purchase price listed as undisclosed.

What the AMD partnership changes

Reuters reported that Phantom MK-2 will use AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100. AMD describes X100 as an embedded platform combining “Zen 5” CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, XDNA 2 NPU acceleration and unified memory for demanding edge workloads. That architecture is relevant to humanoid robotics because perception, model inference, planning and control compete for compute, memory bandwidth, power and thermal headroom inside the robot.

AMD also listed Foundation founder and CEO Sankaet Pathak as a speaker in its July 23 session on AI-enhanced robotics for factories, warehouses and other physical-AI environments. Neither the AMD session page nor Foundation’s current product page provides a model-specific Phantom MK-2 datasheet, price or availability date.

The deployment claim needs qualification

Foundation told Reuters that Phantom MK-1 helped build more than 24,000 cars in 2025. That is a company claim: the automotive customer, number of robots, sites, tasks and operating hours were not disclosed, and RoboZaps has not found independent customer confirmation. The evidence supports qualified paid-deployment language, not an independently verified fleet-size claim.

The company also told Reuters that its first factory, planned for October, would have capacity for 5,000 robots a year, followed by a second factory targeting 50,000 a year. Those figures are planned capacity targets rather than completed output or booked demand.

Why the lease number matters

An approximately USD 100,000 annual lease gives industrial buyers a concrete commercial reference point, even though the contract duration, service coverage, uptime terms, integration costs and minimum commitment remain undisclosed. It also changes how Phantom should be compared with robots sold through a list price: an annual lease shifts support and residual-value assumptions, but it does not by itself establish lower total cost.

For buyers, the next useful disclosures would be named customer evidence, repeatable task and uptime data, service-level terms, and a model-specific Phantom MK-2 product page or datasheet.

RoboZaps’ database decision

Phantom MK-2 remains an announced successor, not a separate RoboZaps robot record. The AMD selection is material news, but it does not establish model-specific dimensions, payload, degrees of freedom, pricing or commercial availability. RoboZaps will not copy Phantom MK-1 specifications to the successor and will wait for primary model-specific evidence before adding it.
